शहरों में आज कानून व्यवस्था तो कुछ ठीक ठाक चल रही है। मगर दूरदराज़ के गांव में आज भी बरसों पुराने रितिरिवाज का दौर है। उन रितिरिवाज के खिलाफ आंदोलन भी हुए और उनके खिलाफ सरकार ने कानून तो बनाया मगर दूरदराज़ के गांव - जहां तक कानून के लम्बे हाथ नहीं पहुँच पाते, आज भी लोगों को ज़िंदा जला डाला जाता है। नंगा कर पूरे गांव में घुमाया जाता है। विधवा को जिंदा जलाया जाता है। वही सब कोई दुल्हा अपनी दुल्हन पर जुल्म ढाता है, तो दुल्हन हत्यार उठाकर बहीहड़ो में निकल जाती है। हमारी कहानी एक ऐसी ही दुल्हन गंगा की है, जिस गांव के ठाकुरों ने जुल्म ढाया और गंगा ने गंगा की सौगंध खायी। हमारी कहानी उस दुल्हन की भी है जिसको सुहाग रात में ही उसके दुल्हे ने डाकुओं के हाथ बेच डाला और उसने हर दुल्हे को मार डालने की सौगंध खाई।
